Asian Grilled Chicken Wings

  • Measuring Spoons

  • Mixing Bowl
  • Gas or Charcoal Grill
  • Gallon Ziploc Bags
  • Tongs


  • 12 whole Chicken Wings Flat, tip and drumstick still connected
  • ¼ cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • ¼ cup Sesame Oil
  • ¼ cup Soy Sauce Low sodium, if possible
  • ¼ cup Fish Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Rice Wine Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Mirin
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced
  • 1 tbsp Fresh Ginger Minced
  • 1 Green Onion Diced
  • ½ tsp Szechuan Pepper Corns Ground
  • ½ tsp Kosher Salt
  • ½ tsp Black Pepper Fresh ground


To Make the Marinade

  • Place chicken wings in a one gallon plastic Ziploc bag
  • Add all other ingredients to a mixing bowl
  • Whisk until well mixed
  • Pour marinade into the bag and seal
  • Let sit in the refrigerator for, at least, one hour, but, up to six
  • Flip the bag over every half hour for best results

Grilling the Chicken Wings

  • Preheat the grill to medium high
  • Adjust burners to create an sufficiently sized are for indirect heat, and to maintain a temperature of about 375 (This will require turning, at least, one burner off or moving charcoal to one side of the grill)
  • Grill for 20 minutes on each side
  • Turn all the burners to medium high
  • With the cover open, grill another two minutes on each side, or until crispy
